Grip Aides
Mighty Grip Chalk $10.95 (Around £6.92)
I got my mighty grip chalk free when I bought the x-pole and 4 years later I still have a lot left! This might be because I only recently found that I was doing more difficult moves and have only just started looking into using grip aides. The idea behind the chalk is that you put a little on your hands to give you more grip. I found that the chalk would help me for a little bit and then my hands would start to lose grip and I would have to reapply. The chalk gives you a good grip if you are doing static moves and poses, but is not so great for spins.
I often use it before a competition to get rid of any moisture on my hands – I apply the chalk, leave it for a few minutes wash it off and find that my hands have more grip.

Mighty Grip Non-Tack Gloves £9.89
These gloves are designed to be used on a static pole to give you extra grip while still spinning on the pole. I bought them for £9.89 from eBay sold by Lucy Misch Productions Limited. I wanted to buy these gloves to help me grip the pole while I learn moves such as the Ayesha. I bought these rather than the tack gloves as I still wanted to be able to spin – best of both worlds. I found that the gloves looked the part – I got them in black in a small after measuring my hand and thought that they were great. They had a velcro strip to allow you to tighten them as much as you like. When trying them out I thought that they didn’t allow any more grip than my hands did and I felt less secure on the pole. I was generally trying out static moves with these gloves and thought that the tack gloves might have been better. Although these gloves did not help me to grip at all, I did like the gloves and decided to buy the tack gloves as well.

Mighty Grip Tack Gloves £9.89
These gloves are designed to be used on a spinning pole. I bought them for £9.89 from eBay sold by Lucy Misch Productions Limited. I love these gloves. They help me to grip a lot more, allowing me to try harder moves for a lot longer. I have found that my hands get sweaty in the gloves but mighty grip suggest using the chalk on your hands as well. I find that these gloves do slip slightly but they work well while trying out different moves. I would recommend these gloves to anyone trying to do static poses on the pole or using a spinning pole. They are designed for use on a spinning and gave me a lot more grip. They also help on a static pole – as long as you are not trying to spin.

Gorilla Gold Grip Enhancer £3.70
I have not bought these personally but have used them on many occasions. You use the wipes to add grip to the pole – almost like a glue effect. It really does give you a lot more grip – especially on those days when you are really struggling. It can be slightly painful on the pole as you have so much grip it can be hard to let go or slide down the pole. This is great to help learn new poses where you need to grip with your elbow or back of knee. This can not be used as a permanent grip aide but more as a learning aide. You do need to wipe the pole clean after use.

Liquid Grip $7.99 (Around £5) for 1.5fl oz
I have recently found out about liquid grip. I had almost given up on trying out grip aides but thought I’d give this a try. Liquid grip is a liquid that you put on your hands, leave to dry for about a minute and then off you pole. Liquid grip ends up looking like a chalk powder on your hands. I thought it was going to rub off quite easily. I went straight for a dead lift so see how my grip was. Liquid grip was amazing. I found that my hands had a lot of grip but didn’t make me feel like I was stuck and couldn’t move. My grip was instantly improved. It didn’t rub off at all and stayed on for the whole of my pole session. As with a lot of grips, you would not want to apply it if you are practising your spins – you will still be able to spin but it is a little harder. I found it perfect for practising any kind of hold. I felt very confident that my grip would last and no matter how sweaty I got, it still kept working! Brilliant.
