FAQs

What Classes Do You Offer?

We run classes and courses in pole dance/fitness, aerial hoop, aerial silks, ‘strength and stretch’. Our one-off classes include routines, spin pole, heels and flexibility. We run rehearsal classes for any showcases and photoshoots. We also have personal training sessions available.

We also offer 1:1 and small group sessions for pole, hoop, silks and personal training.

Our hen parties are available for pole, hoop and silks.

Do I Need to be Strong to Begin?

Not at all. You will build up strength in each class that you do, and so you can join us from any start point of fitness.

What Happens When I Book?

We use an online booking system called TeamUp. When you book your place on any of our classes or courses, you will automatically receive an email confirmation within the hour. This will contain details of the location, dates and times, what to wear and what to bring. Any questions you have about what to do on the day should be answered there. If this fails to arrive, please check your junk/spam folder before getting in touch.

What Will I Need To Bring To The Class?

Bring water to the class as it is thirsty work! Pen and paper are also good for noting down moves and ideas to work on. You are more than welcome to bring a camera to take pictures of your progression – please do not take pictures of your instructor or others in the class, unless they give their permission.

You may want to bring a small towel or flannel to wipe your hands or body when you get a bit sweaty.

Class Capacity

There are a limited number of available spaces on each class or course as we have a maximum of 2 people per pole, hoop or silk.

What Should I Wear?

Pole Dance Classes

Please arrive to your class dressed and ready to get started (perhaps consider arriving with your pole gear under your “normal people” clothes!).

Skin contact with the pole is ideal. It is best to wear shorts and a vest top for maximum skin to pole contact. Please bring something to keep yourself warm in the studio until we have warmed up, especially in the winter.

We do not wear shoes in the studio so please bear this in mind. Some pole moves will require bare feet, but otherwise some people like to wear socks with grippy soles, if they struggle with chilly feet.

Please note we do not wear rings, bracelets, watches or necklaces as it can scratch the poles, damage your jewellery, and potentially lead to injuries.

Aerial Hoop or Silks Classes

It is best to keep your skin covered on areas the hoop or silk might touch, other than hands. For this reason it is best to wear leggings and a vest / t-shirt. You can also wear a light jumper until you feel warm – you may also want to use this to protect your armpits in some moves too!

We do not wear shoes in the studio so please bear this in mind – you may wear socks to warm up in. For many hoop moves, and some silks moves you can wear socks.

Please note we do not wear rings, bracelets, watches or necklaces as it can scratch the poles, damage your jewellery, and potentially lead to injuries.

I Am Pregnant. Can I Participate?

Unfortunately you can not participate in our classes.

I Have Health Problems. May I Participate?

As with any physical exercise, it is always best to consult a doctor before participating. If you have booked a session or course and have a health concern or issue, please get in touch before the first class.

Is There an Age Limit?

While you need to be over 18 to participate in our group classes, there is no upper age limit. We run 1:1 sessions for all ages. However please note, if you’re under the age of 18 you will need written parental/guardian permission, and those under the age of 16 will need a parental or guardian in attendance for the session.

Can Anybody Attend?

Our classes are for any gender, size or shape. All are welcome!

Can I Bring a Friend to Watch?

Unfortunately we can only have students in the studio. We do not have enough room for others to come along and watch – it can also be distracting in class.

I want to join a course/class but can’t make the time – What Can I Do?

You can book in 1:1 sessions to go over all of the moves from the level you will miss, to then be able to continue with the other levels. It is likely that you will need two or three 1:1 sessions to be caught up.

You can also book in regular 1:1 sessions rather than attending group classes.

Where Can I Find More Pole Info?

We have a secret Firefly Poles group on Facebook which you will be invited to during your beginners course.

We also have some pole videos if you search for PoleFreaks on YouTube and Instagram. We also have our sister site PoleFreaks Studio for more pole tutorials.
