X-pole £199.99

X Pole SportI bought my x-pole in 2009 from the x-pole website for about £160 including delivery costs. I wasn’t too sure which height I needed as I lived in a staff house and constantly changed rooms almost without warning. I found that the x-pole was very easy to put up – it takes a little while to put it up the first time around and some confidence that it will hold you up! I found that it worked perfectly and I kept it up for a year. I moved house and had to move my pole around too. It is heavy – about 20kg but it comes with a cloth case (in two parts) that while being heavy, is easy to carry.

It doesn’t make a mark on the floor. The only problem I ever experienced was when it was overtightened (by my male friends before they had a swing!) This pushed the ceiling up so that the nails became visible – this was very fixable with plaster and paint. It really depends on what type of ceiling you have, as other ceilings of mine have been perfectly fine. I love my x-pole in both spinning and static modes. It is a very good product which lasts very well and travels well. This product is now called the XPert (XX) Pole.

I bought an extension for this pole for about £30. This part had quite a few scratches on it and didn’t look quite as shiney and new as the rest of the pole. I haven’t needed to use this part yet and I won’t be using this one to teach a class, so that’s fine!

Pleasure Poles Price Range from £149.99 – £295

Pleasure PoleThese poles can be made to order for a specific room. While I have not personally bought one, I have used pleasure poles many times. I like these poles as it is one complete pole and so is very smooth so you can not catch your skin on it. Due to the nature of the height of the pole, they generally need to be kept in the same room. This pole is ideal for continual use in a pole studio.

Pleasure poles are made exact to the height that you need them. This is ideal for an instructor as the poles will generally be kept in the same place. If are you using it at home and are likely to move house it might be a good idea to make sure that the ceiling is roughly the same height.

Pleasure poles have now branched out and make a travelling version. This is 10kg – half the weight of the x-pole. It sounds like a great idea – I personally have not tried these out and so can not review further.
